I earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Virginia State University and joined the developmental psychology doctoral program at VCU in 2015. My primary research interests include child ethnic-racial identity, social factors in classrooms and their impacts on student academic outcomes. More specifically, I am interested in how the quality of teacher-student relationships and friends mediate the relationship between ethnic-racial identity and academic outcomes. My research has been supported by a grant from the American Psychological Foundation.
