Chelsea Derlan, Ph.D.

I am a first generation Latina student, having grown up in my hometown of central Mexico and Southern California. I completed a double bachelor’s degree in Chicana/o Studies and psychology (2014) and a master’s degree in experimental psychology (2017) from California State University, Northridge. I joined the doctoral program in developmental psychology at VCU in 2018. I am interested in looking at cultural socialization and the role of family context in Latina/o youth’s educational and psychological outcomes.
