Research Interests
Dr. Ellen Carpenter earned their bachelor's degree in psychology from Oberlin College, their master's degree in sport psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and their doctorate in human factors psychology from Old Dominion University while serving as the head cross country coach. Carpenter's dissertation investigated the relationship between physical activity and working memory in an older population. Their classroom pedagogy interests include assessment, engagement and the intersection of technology and cognitive capacity. Carpenter volunteers in the community through the National Alliance on Mental Illness as a family-to-family instructor and family support group facilitator.
