Research Interests
Dr. Robin Everhart’s program of research is focused on understanding chronic disease management from a family systems perspective, particularly within the context of equity, culture, and community. Her work is focused primarily in pediatric pulmonary diseases (e.g., asthma, cystic fibrosis [CF]) and uses a community-engaged approach that partners with the community in research endeavors aimed at reducing health inequities. Dr. Everhart has been funded as Principal Investigator on grants from the National Institutes of Health, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth, Society of Pediatric Psychology (APA Division 54), and internal funding from VCU (Quest Fund). Her primary line of research has included working with the community to develop, implement, and evaluate an asthma intervention program (RVA Breathes) in a randomized clinical trial. Other areas of research include tobacco use prevention among African American youth with asthma, and mental health and adherence behaviors among people with CF. Dr. Everhart is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Virginia.
